Spanish intellectual Ignacio Ramonet has highlighted today at UNESCO the broad revolutionary work of Fidel Castro, who boosted deep transformations in Cuba and also in countries of other continents.
As part of the Latin American and Caribbean Week, held at the headquarters of the United Nations in Paris, the French-based journalist and writer gave a symposium on the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, in front of a large audience.
Ramonet, who is also the author of several books about Fidel Castro, gave a review of his whole life, starting from childhood and the first studies, to explain how the revolutionary vocation emerged.
He became interested and knew in depth the injustices experienced by the working class, and the deep inequality existing in the Cuban society of the time, Ramonet said.
